Module 1 – Developing Language Competence at B2+/C1 Level
Consolidation and expansion of selected grammatical structures characteristic of B2+/C1 levels. Development of vocabulary, with particular emphasis on academic, professional, and journalistic language. Further development of the ability to formulate precise, coherent, and stylistically varied spoken and written statements.
Module 2 – Communication, Argumentation, and Text Analysis
Development of the ability to participate in discussions and debates concerning more complex social, economic, and cultural issues. Analysis and interpretation of authentic journalistic, literary, and popular-science texts, as well as audiovisual materials. Further development of argumentation strategies, the ability to formulate and express a position, and the ability to respond to the arguments of others. Production of extended written texts, including essays, reviews, reports, and argumentative texts.
Module 3 – Mediation and Advanced Language Activities
Further development of language mediation strategies, particularly paraphrasing, synthesising, summarising, explaining, and conveying complex content. Preparation and delivery of academic, professional, and persuasive presentations and statements. Development of the ability to adapt language, register, and style to the communicative situation and intended audience.
Thematic Scope
Language and communication content is covered within, among others, the following thematic areas:
Unterwegs – travel and mobility, means of transport, travel experiences, tourism, international mobility, and contemporary issues related to transport and travel.
Aus der Welt der Wirtschaft – the economy and professional life, companies and the labour market, consumption, money and finance, contemporary economic transformations, and the language of professional communication.
Wünsche, Träume und Wirklichkeit – plans and aspirations, dreams and life goals, expectations versus reality, decision-making, success and failure, and considering hypothetical situations and alternative scenarios.

S_U03 – the student uses German at B2+ level, with the aim of progressing towards C1 level, in accordance with the CEFR.

Social Competences
S_K01 – the student critically evaluates their own knowledge and language competence, analyses the content they receive, and is able to consciously modify their own communication strategies.
Example: the student identifies their own language difficulties, makes use of feedback, and selects strategies that support the further development of their language competence.
Assessment criteria
To successfully complete the course, students are required to participate actively and regularly in classes, submit written and oral assignments and other coursework on time, and pass the end-of-semester test.
A maximum of one absence per every 30 hours of classes is permitted.
End-of-Semester Test
The test takes place at the end of the semester and includes:
• reading and listening comprehension;
• a written task, e.g. an essay or letter;
• lexical and grammatical components;
• spoken production/oral interaction.
To pass the test, students must obtain at least 60% of the available points in each component.
Assessment Criteria
The final grade is based on active participation and regular work during classes, written assignments and oral performance, participation in discussions, debates, and mediation tasks, as well as the result of the end-of-semester test.
Written assignments are assessed in terms of task achievement, grammatical and lexical accuracy, range of linguistic resources, coherence and logical organisation of the text, and stylistic appropriateness.
Oral performance, discussions, and debates are assessed in terms of achievement of the communicative task, fluency, accuracy and range of linguistic resources, argumentation skills, interaction, and appropriateness of language to the communicative situation.
Mediation tasks are assessed in terms of the accurate communication of key content, the ability to select and process information, paraphrase, and adapt the message to the intended audience and communicative situation.

60–68% – Satisfactory
69–76% – Satisfactory Plus
77–84% – Good
85–92% – Good Plus
93–100% – Very Good
