Practical French exam - C1 4100-6SFRAEGZC1
The exam consists of two separate parts: a written exam and an oral exam. The student takes both parts of the exam (regardless of the results of the written exam).
To pass the entire exam, you must pass each of both parts with at least 60%. The final score is then the sum of both results. The score is converted into a school grade according to the adopted scale.
WRITTEN EXAM - checked by two examiners.
1. Listening comprehension - 10 points
Listening to an authentic recording twice and answering questions. A text of the academic lecture type/text of the discussion type.
Questions to the text: a/multiple choice tasks b/semi-open questions.
Social, cultural, scientific, professional topics, current events.
Language skills:
a/understanding the main idea of the statement
b/understanding detailed information
c/understanding implicit information and guessing the meaning from the context.
2. Reading comprehension - 10 points
Reading an authentic text (press article) and answering questions.
Questions to the text: a/multiple choice tasks b/semi-open questions.
Social, cultural, scientific, professional topics, current events.
Language skills:
a/ understanding the main idea
b/ understanding opinions and arguments
c/ understanding detailed information
d/ understanding implicit information and guessing the meaning from the context
e/ noticing connections within the text.
3. Use of language - 20 points
Grammar and lexical tasks. Completing a text with gaps by selecting the correct grammatical or dictionary form. Open tasks for correctly completing a sentence. Multiple choice.
Language skills:
The student demonstrates the ability to select grammatical forms, phrases and words that fit the context to the extent that allows for fully effective and correct communication. The student demonstrates the ability to create language forms and vocabulary necessary for effective and correct communication.
4. Writing - 20 points
Writing a statement (250 words) in the form of an argumentative text. Criteria for assessing a written statement: compliance with the topic, fluency and coherence of the text, grammatical and spelling correctness, linguistic richness, correctness of style.
Language skills:
The student demonstrates the ability to create texts that are linguistically correct, stylistically appropriate, coherent, as well as knowledge of formal requirements (text layout, composition).
The entire exam can be worth 80 points. The instructions for the tasks are given in French.
The written exam lasts 180 minutes.
ORAL EXAM - conducted by two examiners
Preparation time - approx. 15 minutes, duration - approx. 15 minutes.
1. Speaking – 40 points
a/ Short introductory conversation with examiners (questions about personal details, interests, etc.)
b/ Student draws a short text, presents its main points and develops it in the form of a comment/opinion. The examiner may ask for additional development of the statement.
Assessment criteria:
- understanding the topic/command
- ability and richness of argumentation
- fluency of statement
- interactive effectiveness
- linguistic correctness (grammatical and lexical, stylistic, in terms of pronunciation and intonation)
Language skills:
a/ fluent and correct communication in social and formal situations
b/ selection of appropriate style and vocabulary
c/ ability to explain and justify one's own opinions
d/ presentation of topics and views
e/ high interactivity.

Assessment criteria
Passing the written and oral exam - 2 ECTS
Oral exam: 40 points. Passes 60% - 24 points.
Written exam: 60 points. Passes 60% - 36 points.
To pass the certification exam, the student should pass both parts of the exam with 60%. Failure to pass one of the parts results in an insufficient grade. In such a situation, the student should retake the failed part of the exam in a retake session.
The final grade is as follows:
36 - 40 points - satisfactory grade (3)
41 - 46 points - satisfactory plus (3+)
47 - 52 points - good (4)
53 - 55 points - good plus (4+)
56 - 80 points - very good (5)
