Listening comprehension course objectives:
1. Developing students' auditory perception skills in relation to various types of audio material included in the textbook and authentic materials, using materials accompanying FLE methods.
2. Practicing selective listening skills to short materials, focused on selecting the most important information (taking notes, linking relevant information to present it in a structured oral presentation).
3. Practicing the ability to expand on the content covered in the recording.
4. Developing the ability to recognize colloquial language forms and distinguish between forms used in spoken and written language.
Reading comprehension course objectives:
1. Developing reading comprehension skills using various types of texts included in the textbook.
2. Familiarizing students with reading strategies necessary for developing the ability to understand original texts and practicing the ability to adapt the form of reading to the purpose of the reading.
3. Developing students' competences that determine reading comprehension, namely grammatical, lexical, and pragmatic competences. Practicing the ability to extract key information from a text and organize it into a plan.
Lesson objectives for developing speaking skills:
1. Developing students' skills in:
- formulating questions and precise answers
- conducting conversations (including telephone conversations) on everyday topics
- presenting their own opinions on topics covered in the texts and recordings from the textbook and others
- presenting a short statement based on topics covered in the text or recording
- participating in discussions (defending their own opinion, clarifying their thoughts, and opposing opposing opinions);
2. Practicing coherent oral expression on a selected topic in a foreign language while simultaneously checking linguistic and phonetic accuracy at a level appropriate to their language proficiency. Course objectives for developing writing skills:
1. To familiarize students with appropriate patterns, the analysis of which will allow them to master writing short letters, short descriptions, short stories, and texts presenting their own point of view on a given topic with a specific structure.
2. To introduce students to exercises involving correcting linguistic errors, developing and deepening students' knowledge of grammatical and stylistic correctness through transformational exercises.

Assessment criteria
1. Course Completion Rules
The condition for being admitted to complete the course is attendance at classes
(two unexcused absences per semester are allowed); if this limit is exceeded, the student must retake the course.
An additional requirement is the timely completion of all partial written and oral tasks at level A2 in accordance with the CEFR, carried out during in-class activities and as part of independent work.
The final grade is determined on the basis of results obtained through the adopted methods and assessment criteria, according to the specified weights.
As part of the NJF course, supplementary sessions (self-access) are also organized, which serve as support classes. These sessions amount to 30 hours per semester, delivered online with the instructor. Each student is required to achieve 80% attendance per semester in order to be admitted to the final assessment of the entire NJF block.
2. Assessment Methods
a/ Oral performance at the end of the semester (30% of the final grade; topics prepared at home; CEFR A2 (S_W16, S_U01; S_U11; S_U12; S_U14; S_U15; K01; S_K02)):
short conversation, dialogue, asking and answering questions, describing a situation or event, expressing opinions and preferences, short presentation, participation in role-plays, topics based on specific stages of the main textbook using the following tenses: present, passé composé, imperfect, futur proche, futur simple, and basic grammatical structures, e.g. describing your day, hobbies, favorite activities, shopping, ordering food in a restaurant, narrating past events, future plans, role-playing in a restaurant, shop, doctor’s office, or at the airport.
Oral performance assessment criteria – Oral performance (20 pts): content – 3 pts; grammatical accuracy – 5 pts; lexical range – 5 pts; phonetic accuracy – 4 pts; structure and coherence – 3 pts. Passing grade from 12 pts (60%). Weight: 30% of the final grade.
b/ Semester tests (3x) (60% of the final grade); covering grammar, vocabulary, listening, reading, and writing.
Criteria for assessing free written expression – written performance at A2 level according to CEFR (S_U01; S_U11; S_U12; S_U13; S_U15; K01; S_K02):
simple texts describing everyday situations, approx. 80 words, e.g. email, description of people or places, short event reports, stories on familiar topics based on the main textbook, using present, passé composé, imperfect, futur proche, futur simple and basic grammatical structures.
c/ Homework – recorded and checked orally at the beginning of each class; a complete set of homework raises the final grade by 10%. Regular and systematic completion of homework is recorded and checked orally at the beginning of each class (S_U09; S_U13; K01; S_K02).
Assessment criteria and weighting
Oral performance (20 pts): content – 3 pts; grammatical accuracy – 5 pts; lexical range – 5 pts; phonetic accuracy – 4 pts; structure and coherence – 3 pts. Passing grade from 12 pts (60%). Weight: 30% of the final grade.
Written performance in tests (20 pts): content – 3 pts; grammatical accuracy – 8 pts; lexical range – 6 pts; structure and coherence – 3 pts. Passing grade requires 60% of total points. The final, third test covers the entire semester’s material. Test results account for 60% of the final grade (S_U01; S_U11; S_U12; S_U13; S_U15; K01; S_K02).
Tests (overall): three tests, including one comprehensive final test; passing grade from 60% of total points. Weight: 60% of the final grade.
Homework: complete set = +10% added to the final grade.
The student may retake the failed final test and/or oral performance once during the last week of classes in the semester.
Grading scale (with passing threshold):
60% – 68%: satisfactory
69% – 76%: satisfactory plus
77% – 84%: good
85% – 92%: good plus
93% – 100%: very good
ECTS credits: 4
1 ECTS = 25 teaching hours
Coursework includes:
75 classroom hours – exercises
25 hours of independent student work
Forms of independent student work include:
preparing for classes and consolidating material (approx. 15 hrs),
preparing short oral and written performances (approx. 4 hrs),
preparing for partial tests and the final exam (approx. 6 hrs).
Total: 25 hours.
