The course is taught in the third semester and includes a detailed presentation and practical application of the following grammatical areas:
Revision and consolidation of first-year material – Präsens, Perfekt and Präteritum; articles; plural forms of nouns; adjective declension; word order in simple and complex sentences.
Futur I – formation and use; expressing future events and assumptions.
Genitive (Genitiv) – formation and use of the genitive; constructions requiring the genitive and its functions in written and formal language.
Adjective government (Adjektivrektion) – the use of adjectives with appropriate cases and prepositions.
Adjective declension (Adjektivdeklination) – strong, weak and mixed declension; consolidation and use in communicative contexts.
Passive voice (Passiv) – formation and use in Präsens, Präteritum and Perfekt; distinction between Vorgangspassiv and Zustandspassiv.
Complex sentences at B1/B2 level – relative clauses (Relativsätze), subordinate clauses with obwohl and damit, and um … zu constructions; word order and analysis of sentence structures.
Interactive exercises on the CKC platform constitute an integral part of the course and are designed to consolidate and automatise the grammatical structures covered. Particular emphasis is also placed on the practical application of grammar in spoken and written communication.

Learning outcomes
S1_U01 – The student uses appropriate grammatical forms and structures at B1/B2 level in specific discourse functions within simple and complex sentences.
S1_U02 – The student produces coherent spoken and written texts using correct grammatical structures appropriate to the communicative situation.
Social competences
S1_K01 – The student participates in language tasks and cooperates effectively in pairs and groups.
S1_K02 – The student applies expert guidance in the field of grammar in practice and uses it to improve their own spoken and written production.
Assessment criteria
Attendance is required. A maximum of one absence per semester is permitted.
Regular written assignments and progress exercises/tests.
Active participation in class and systematic work throughout the semester.
Independent work on the CKC platform – minimum 60%.
Semester test – minimum 60%.
The final grade is based on the total number of points obtained for ongoing coursework, class participation, tasks completed on the CKC platform and the semester test.
The following criteria are applied to the individual assessment components: accuracy of content and language, correct use of grammatical structures, completeness of the task and compliance with the instructions.
Grading scale
60%–68% – satisfactory (3.0)
69%–76% – satisfactory plus (3.5)
77%–84% – good (4.0)
85%–89% – good plus (4.5)
90%–100% – very good (5.0)
Teaching methods
The course uses the following teaching methods: discovering and analysing grammatical rules through deduction; interactive grammar exercises; analysis of examples and language structures; practical application of grammar in spoken and written communication; individual, pair and group work.
