Learning outcomes in the study programme: K_W03, S1_U01, S1_U02, S1_K01, K_K02
Knowledge
- The student knows and understands the basic concepts and phenomena of French phonetics and phonology, including the principles of phonetic transcription in the IPA alphabet (K_W03).
- The student knows the differences between the French and Polish phonetic systems and understands their significance for correct pronunciation (K_W03).
Skills
- The student can identify, classify, and articulate the basic phonetic segments of French (oral and nasal vowels).
- The student can apply phonetic and phonological knowledge to analyze and eliminate typical articulation errors resulting from mother tongue interference (S1_U01, S1_U02).
- The student can improve their own pronunciation by applying conscious articulatory and perceptual strategies (S1_U02).
Social competences
- The student is ready to critically assess their own progress in pronunciation and to constructively receive and provide feedback (S1_K01).
- The student respects the principles of academic integrity and teaching ethics in the process of improving their own pronunciation as well as that of other learners of French (K_K02).
Assessment criteria
Ongoing evaluation is based on the accuracy of discrimination and articulation exercises (S1_U01, S1_U02).
Periodic assessment is carried out in the form of oral and written tests (K_W03, S1_U01, S1_U02).
The assessment covers:
-accuracy of perception of individual vowels,
- ability to correctly articulate French vowels,
- knowledge of phonogrammatic relations within the French vowel system,
- practical mastery of the basics of phonetic transcription.
The evaluation of learning progress is conducted continuously and systematically during discrimination and articulation exercises.
By the end of the semester, the student should achieve A1/A2 level in phonological competence.
