ISS UW Doctoral Seminar 4016-SEMOG-MISD
The doctoral seminar is intended for students of the Interfaculty Interdisciplinary PhD Programme at ISS UW. It will provide an interdisciplinary forum for discussing the ongoing research carried out by the students for their dissertations. The students will present the theoretical assumptions of their research projects, the methodological approaches employed, their hypotheses and further research ideas. The presentations will also include the theoretical background of their research, the dominant research paradigms and the most important findings in the area of study. The students that are in the course of carrying out or have finished their empirical research will present the preliminary findings and their implications. The presentations will be followed by interdisciplinary discussion of all participants.

On finishing the course, the student:
- Has acquired the necessary skills to present his/her research and its results
- Has acquired the necessary skills to participate in discussion on his/her research, especially the skills needed to defend their proposed theses.
- Critically analyses research presentations and is able to point out their strong/weak points
- Recognizes errors in or ambiguities in research work plans and research results
- Explains and validates his/her proposed research goals and methods employed to reach them
- Is well oriented in the areas under study within the group of ISS UW PhD students
- Is well oriented in the areas under study in ISS UW
