Philosophical Systems of the Middle and Far East 3800-SFW25-M
The lecture is devoted to the discussion of the most important philosophical systems and doctrines of the Middle and Far East. Particular attention will be focused on their relationship with religion. The most important issues raised in philosophical systems will be discussed: cosmogony, cosmology, deity and its character and relation to the created world. In the individual blocks ontological, metaphysical and epistemological problems will be elaborated. In first two lectures the beginnings of philosophical and religious thinking in the Ancient East will be presented. The following blocks Indian philosophy, Buddhist philosophy, Japanese philosophy, Chinese philosophy, Jewish philosophy, Muslim philosophy and contemporary Persian thought will be analysed.
