(in Polish) Information Technologies 3800-ISP-IT
Information and Communication Technologies course is designed to provide students with
a working knowledge of IT concepts and crucial skills necessary for work and communication in today's society. Students will learn safety, security, and ethical issues in computing and social networking (aforementioned issues will be a presentation topics, prepared as a homework). Students will learn about integrated office software suite called Microsoft Office. Students will learn intermediate: Word Processing (Word), Presentation (PowerPoint) and Spreadsheet (Excel) skills. Students will learn the basics of statistical analysis during the course as well. Students will also be introduced to basics of WWW sites creation.

Acquired knowledge:
Student knows after completion of the course:
- IT tools applied in the philosophy (useful, inter alia for creating own philosophical texts),
- general relationships between the formation of philosophical ideas and changes in the culture and society; understands the fundamental role of philosophical ideas, what play in the creation of works and cultural institutions.
Acquired skills:
Student after completion of the course:
- can handle Word Processing (Word), Spreadsheet (Excel) and Presentation (PowerPoint) at intermediate level;
- can perform simple statistical analyzes based on specific assumptions;
- can create basic WWW site;
- independently collects, processes and embeds materials utilizing multimedia presentation in accordance with the copyright law;
- leads discussion on broadly understood issues related to IT, argues own opinion on a specific topic;
- can analyze and evaluate information from written and electronic sources, using searching tools.
Acquired social competences:
Student has the following social competences after completion of the course:
- important skills and knowledge necessary for work and communication in the frames of future technology;
- understand security and information protection issues;
- understand ethical issues in computer science and social network.
Assessment criteria
Student assessment will be based on tests, presentations and active participation during the course.
