Social Science Methods 3700-MSNS-24-SSMW
This course provides a practical overview of the main techniques of collecting and analyzing data in social sciences. Students will have a chance to get hands-on experience in data collection and analysis through designing their own small scale research, collecting data and doing preliminary analysis.
Each block of the workshop aims at getting students familiar with different stages of data collection and analysis process. Block 1 focuses on the types of research design and the differences between them. Students will have an opportunity to design their own small scale study. Block 2 and 3 address the ways to collect qualitative and quantitative data. Blocks 4 and 5 look at the analytical tools used with different data types. Further, block 6 explores the Mixed Methods design. The students will have an opportunity to add up all the pieces and present the group research project they develop over the course of the workshops.
