Polish language between East and West - linguistic interference in the context of culture 3700-AL-PWZ-QHU
The seminar is intended for all students interested in what happens to language in everyday contact with foreign languages and cultures.
In geographical terms, Poland's location is called "Central Europe", in cultural terms it is said to be "between East and West" or even "east of the West, west of the East". In this way, language documents different visions of our social identity. The factors influencing the linguistic reflection of the perception of the place of the Polish language on the cultural map of Europe will be discussed during the classes. Various past and contemporary normative-linguistic problems related to the influence of other languages and cultures will also be considered.
The classes are designed to make people aware of the numerous and multilateral relations between languages in the context of social, cultural and political influence.

Learning outcomes in the field of knowledge. Student:
- has in-depth knowledge of the place and role of the humanities in culture, in particular philology [K_W01]

Assessment criteria
The basis for passing the course is:
a) active participation in classes,
b) performing tasks related to classes on an ongoing basis,
c) a paper on one of the specified issues,
d) attendance at classes (with the right to two absences per semester).
Paper evaluation criteria:
a) accuracy of interpretation of the presented material,
b) the ability to critically approach the material,
c) the way of presenting the results of the work.
Grade credit:
continuous assessment (preparation for classes and activity) 55%,
paper on one of the topics of the course 45%.
The condition for obtaining credit in the course is attendance at classes (with the right to two absences per semester).
