Workshop - introduction to Corpus Linguistics 3600-KM-WLK-OW
Language corpora are currently the basic resource used in research in the field of linguistics, other social sciences and literary studies. The corpora offers access to huge textual resources, built on the basis of authentic texts, which enable reliable analysis of the language. During the workshops, participants gain both theoretical and practical knowledge of computational linguistics in Poland and around the world. They will learn the basic research methods of computational linguistics. They acquire knowledge about the creation and use of language corpora, as well as practical skills necessary to independently create and use them.
During the workshop we will learn the Sketch Engine environment.

Knowledge
The student has structured knowledge, including terminology in the field of computational and corpus linguistics. Knows and understands advanced methods of grammatical analysis of a language using the methods of corpus linguistics.
Skills
The student is able to search, analyze and select information using electronic resources and formulate judgments on this basis. He is able to independently acquire knowledge and expand the skills of research analysis. He has the ability to substantive argumentation. Is able to communicate using various channels and information techniques.
Social competence
He understands the need for lifelong learning. He is able to properly set priorities for implementation
Assessment criteria
Evaluation is based od the participation and activity in classes. Credit based on the performance of the work assigned.
