Performative arts in Japan 3600-JA-SPWJ-OW
The world of Japanese performing arts, which were always very important part of Japanese culture and religion, is very divers, multiple and important for contemporary theater either in Japan or world. By the research of the performing arts the understanding of history and evolution of Japanese culture is easier, mostly because older forms were not replaced by new ones, but they coexist up untill now. During the seminar especially forms like: kagura, dengaku, sarugaku and furyū, traditional theater forms like nō and kabuki, as well as common forms of folk performances like bonodori will be discussed. The core of the work in the classroom will consist on reading papers in Japanese and analysing audiovisual materials.
