Seminar: Art and Artistic Traditions of Asia and Africa 3600-AF-STAAA-OW
The seminar: Art and Artistic Traditions of Asia and Africa is devoted to various aspects related to the art of Asia and Africa. Each of the ten classes included in the one-year course includes a lecture by an invited expert in the field of e.g. art history, visual culture, conservation or archeology of Asia and Africa, followed by discussion.
The main topic of lectures in the winter semester 2024/2025 art art, and artistic traditions of East ans South-East Asia.

Knowledge - the student knows and understands:
basic issues in the field of art and aesthetics of Asian and African countries
has a detailed knowledge of the art of Asia and Africa in accordance with the subject of the lectures presented
basic methods of analysis and interpretation of various cultural products appropriate for the native traditions of Asia and Africa
Skills - the student is able to:
analyze the most important phenomena related to the art of Asia and Africa
indicate the most important aesthetic issues of Asia and Africa
Social competence - the student is ready to:
lifelong learning
appropriate determination of goals and ways to achieve them in the field of scientific, professional and social activity
making others aware of cultural diversity and its religious, philosophical, moral and historical sources and its importance for understanding the modern world
Assessment criteria
Activity (participation in discussions), final oral presentation.
Compulsory attendance at all five classes.
In the case of absence due to illness, the medical certificate excusing this absence should be submitted within seven work days of the last day of the leave specified in the certificate.
