Methodology in cultural field research 3600-AF-MCFR-OW
The aim of the course is to learn about research methods in culturally different areas and the ethics of anthropological work. Students will learn how to prepare for field
work through theoretical research and proper framing, how to create appropriate surveys, prepare individual questionnaires and focus groups. A great emphasis will be placed on the ethics of research work, so that students know what behaviours can harm the cultures being studied and what can put them in danger. They will learn how to conduct participant observation and how to cooperate with other cultures and religions. They will also learn about the method of data analysis, including cognitive analysis. Practical examples will allow for a better understanding of data collection and analysis. They will also learn about legal documents which are
necessary for field work and how to gain the permission from the ethical committee.
