1. Basic information about the Horn of Africa (geography, ethnic and linguistic situation)
2. The entangled histories of Islam and Christianity in the Ethiopian Empire
3. Peculiarities of Ethiopian Christianity and Islam
4. Religion and politcs in Ethiopia after 1974
5. Patterns of Christian-Muslim interactions in Ethiopia
6. Pentecostal Christianithy as a new force on the Ethiopian religious scene

Assessment criteria
Multiple-choice test during the exams season.
The students are expected to be present for at least half of the overall number of meetings.
For each meeting the students will be expected to follow the current news taking place in the Horn of Africa through the reliable media outlets (BBC, CNN, DW, Al Jazeera etc.).
