Orientalist seminar. History 3600-7-WO4-KOD
The major aim of the course is to discuss some selected issues related to various types of intercultural conflicts occurring throughout history in Asia and Africa, as well as in other regions of the world where problems related to Asia and Africa arise.
Due to the specific nature of these classes, intended for students of Oriental Studies, we will focus on discussing the cause and effect relationships of these conflicts as seen from various perspectives by a researcher of the culture of the selected side of the conflict. It will also be possible to compare the views of researchers representing different sides of the conflict. We will consider the meaning of the so-called historical truth and the role of stereotypes in this context.
