The Ottoman Language (Methodological Excercises) 2 3600-7-TU5-JKO2
Basic information on alphabet; forms of the letters at the beginning, in the middle and at the end of a word. Reading and writing of the Turkish, Arabic, Persian words as well as loan-words from and European languages. The writing of the possessive, status adjectives, time expressions for the verbs and nouns. Writing of the invites, derived, joint of verbs, prefixes and suffixes. The prepositions used in Ottoman language, infinitives, derived nouns and adjectives, joint words will be introduced. Words and sentences in the prosaic texts will be analyzed from the point of meaning. The students will read the works written in Ottoman language in reversed chronological order: the simplest ones of 20th century will by followed by increasingly difficult ones from 19th and 18th centuries. By studying various texts students develop their skills in reading and evaluating more difficult works written in Ottoman. They will also be acquainted with different writing styles used in Ottoman, for example nesih, talik, sülüs, divani, rika.

o has expanded and in-depth knowledge of the Turkish language (the Ottoman language being an older form of Turkish language) [K_W04]

o knows and understands advanced methods of analysis and interpretation of various cultural products appropriate for selected traditions, theories and research schools in the field of cultural studies and literary studies, linguistics, philosophy and religious studies and history [K_W11]
Skills:
o can read, analyze and interpret advanced literary texts and / or other works of cultural creativity (film, press, social writing) correctly placing them in a cultural context [K_U08]
o knows how to compare and thoroughly analyze the relationships between selected literary texts and / or other works of cultural creativity (film, press, social literature) and issues of tradition and modernity [K_W09]
o is able to perform a critical analysis and interpretation of various cultural products specific to selected traditions, theories and research schools in the field of linguistics or literary or cultural studies or history using original approaches taking into account knowledge of oriental studies [K_U10]
o can select and translate the most valuable works of Ottoman literature / literature into Polish [K_U13]
o speaks Turkish at a set level depending on the specialty [K_U15]
Social competence:
o actively works to share and promote cultural heritage and the most important products of contemporary Turkish culture [K_K11]

Assessment criteria
Written and oral assessment - credit with note.
The student has the right to 4 absences per semester.
