Turkish language and culture 3600-7-TU3-JKT(Z)
The course of Contemporary Turkish III covers all language skills like speaking, reading, writing, vocabulary and grammar with the emphasis on speaking and listening.
The course is based on handbooks of Turkish: Yeni Hitit III, Türkçe Öğreniyoruz III / IV and a number of mass media texts and audio & video recordings. Materials may be tailored to students needs and interests. Turkish songs, poems, Turkish newspaper and magazine extracts, movies will be used. Contemporary Turkish classes in the third year are devoted to further practice and development of language skills and functions acquired in the previous years, such as reading and listening comprehension, and making summaries of longer authentic texts. The main purpose is to develop listening and speaking abilities of the students, and eventually their conversation skills by using active training methods.

Knowledge:
o has extensive knowledge of the Turkish language (its structure, history, script) [K_W12]

o can read, analyze and interpret literary texts and other works of culture (film, press, social writing) of Turkey and appropriately place them in their cultural context [K_U06]
o can use the knowledge of socio-cultural issues of Turkey in typical professional situations [K_U09]
o has a good command of Turkish at the B1+ level [K_U12]
o can analyze and interpret source texts in Turkish [K_U13]
o can translate literary texts and writings from Turkish into Polish [K_U14]
o can interpret key terms from the culture of Turkey through linguistic/philological analysis [K_U15]
o can fluently use the script of Turkish and the necessary tools to learn and analyze it (traditional and electronic dictionaries, lexicons, linguistic corpora, data bases, etc.) [K_U16]
o can properly function in the linguistic and cultural environment of Turkey at the B1+ level of command of Turkish [K_U17]
o has a skill in presenting detailed aspects within the scope of cultural issues of Turkey in Polish and in Turkish taking into consideration the intellectual tradition of Turkey [K_U21]
o can use electronic and internet tools both in Polish and Turkish [K_U24]

Assessment criteria
- Continuous assessment. Knowledge of the lexical and grammatical issues presented during classes.( 2 abssence acceptable)
Written and oral tests.
After winter semester written and oral assessment test.
Oral and written examination in the end of the year.
