Turkish Literature and Culture 3600-7-TU2-LKT2
The lecture has as its main objective making students familiar with Turkish literature beginning from the 8th century Orkhon-Yenisey inscriptions until modern times. Main cultural-literary areas (Mongolia and south Sibiria, Central Asia, Anatolia, the Balkans), types (court literature, sufi literature, popular literature, literature under European influence) and periods (pre-islamic, islamic, Sedjuk and beylik, Ottoman, Tanzimat, Servet-i Fünun, Milli Edebiyat, Republican period, contemporary literature) will be presented together with its socio-cultural background and development of specific literary genres. Students will be acquainted with biographies and works of selected most important poets and writers.

Knowledge:
o has basic knowledge in the range of theory of humanities (literary studies) necessary to understand chosen cultural aspects [K_W04];

o can indicate sources of cultural differences between Turkey and other countries [K_U02];
o can read, analyze and interpret literary texts and other works of culture (film, press, social writing) of Turkey and appropriately place them in their cultural context [K_U06];
o can compare and perceive interrelations between chosen literary texts and other works of Turkish culture (film, press, social writing), and the issues within the scope of tradition and modern times [K_U07];
o can indicate most important intellectual problems, dilemmas, aesthetic preferences taking shape inside the culture of Turkey [K_U10];
o can interpret key terms from the culture of Turkey through linguistic/philological analysis [K_U15]
o can properly function in the linguistic and cultural environment of Turkey [K_U17];
o knows the state of research in chosen aspects pertaining to Turkey [K_U18]
o has a skill in presenting detailed aspects within the scope of cultural issues of Turkey in Polish and in Turkish taking into consideration the intellectual tradition of Turkey [K_U21].

Assessment criteria
Assessment of knowledge, skills and competence acquired by the students during lecture and from selected bibliography.
Oral examination, an essay/a presentation on a selected work of Turkish literature in Polish translation.
