(in Polish) Dzieje Turcji 3600-7-TU2-DT(Z)
The lectures cover the most important issues in the history of the Republic of Turkey from 1923 to the present, with a focus on the role of its greatest political leaders. Topics include the history of political parties, successive Turkish constitutions, the party and political system, the political system and government, and military coups. The lectures will also discuss the key elements of the domestic and foreign policies of individual governments, as well as the history of Turkey's relations with the European Union and NATO.

Knowledge:
o Has basic knowledge of theories in the humanities necessary to understand selected aspects of culture in the field of Turkish history [K_W04];
o Has structured, detailed knowledge of the history of the Republic of Turkey [K_W06];
o Has structured, detailed knowledge of Turkey's socio-cultural issues in terms of the natural environment, ethnic, demographic, and political situation of the Republic of Turkey [K_W09];
o Has structured knowledge of the conditions of the geopolitical and economic environment and their significance for the historical and contemporary situation of Turkey [K_W11];
o Knows and understands the basic methods of interpreting various cultural products appropriate to selected theories and research schools in the field of Turkish history studies [K_W18];
Skills:
o Is able to identify the sources of cultural differences in the countries of the Orient [K_U02];
o Is able to apply knowledge of Turkish history to the analysis and interpretation of contemporary events [K_U04];
o Is able to correctly locate the territory of Turkey in the context of its geopolitical and economic environment [K_U05];
o Is able to apply knowledge of socio-cultural issues in typical professional situations [K_U09];
o Is able to present detailed issues related to the history of Turkey in Polish or a foreign language, taking into account its intellectual tradition [K_U21].

Assessment criteria
Students should familiarize themselves with historical sources and detailed literature (at least six items) selected from a list provided by the lecturer. The final exam will include, in addition to factual information from the lecture and textbooks, the content of these readings.
