Text composition 3600-7-SI3-KT1
The course on text composition forms part of the ‘Chinese Language and Culture’ module. Its main aim is to teach students how to construct longer formal written and spoken texts using the vocabulary and grammar covered in other courses within the language module.
Thanks to this course, students will not only be able to write their CV, cover letter or application, but also, amongst other things, present their research interests or professional experience.

Learning outcomes
Graduates have a comprehensive knowledge of the Chinese language (its structure, history, development and writing);
is aware of the complex nature of the Chinese language, its place and significance in the context
of the culture and history of China, Taiwan and the Chinese civilisation;
is able to apply knowledge of the socio-cultural issues of China, Taiwan and the Chinese civilisation in typical professional situations;
uses the Chinese language at B2 level;
is able to function effectively within the linguistic and cultural environment of China;
is able to present detailed topics relating to Chinese cultural issues in both Polish and Chinese, taking into account China’s intellectual tradition;
is able to formulate their own opinions and conclusions, both orally and in writing, in Polish and Chinese;
is able to use electronic and online tools in Polish and Chinese;
is able to establish contacts and collaborate with representatives of different cultures.
Assessment criteria
Assasment methods: written composition in proper form, right usage of vocabulary.
Students are expected to prepare for each class in advance, actively ask questions during lessons, and participate in speaking and listening activities. After class, they should review the material and complete all assigned homework.
During an exam, test, or quiz, the following actions are strictly prohibited: using
notes, phones, smartwatches, headphones, or any other devices that allow access to information; consulting with others; looking at other students' papers; or tampering with exam materials.Only materials previously specified or provided by the lecturer are permitted. If the use of unauthorized aids is detected, the exam or assessment is immediately terminated, and a failing grade is assigned.
Compulsory classes. Two unexcused absences are permitted per semester. Missing more than 50% of the hours specified in the course syllabus will result in failure to pass the course
Bibliography
The classes are generally based on material from the textbooks used in the ‘Chinese Language and Culture’ course, but are not limited to these. The lecturer prepares materials to ensure they meet the latest standards in the workplace and in official correspondence in Chinese
