Chinese Literature 3600-7-SI1-LCH1
Students become acquainted with the history of the Chinese literature from its beginnings to contemporary times. The class takes form of a lecture; however, the students will also be obliged to read selected texts to better understand the discussed issues. The full series of lectures spans the whole academic year.
The class helps students identify the most important trends in the Chinese literature but also provides them with detailed knowledge concerning writers and their works. The problems will be addressed chronologically. Necessary knowledge concerning the underlying historical events will be imparted, the cultural background will be introduced extensively. If the language abilities of a given student allow it, they are encouraged to read the literary texts in Chinese. Nevertheless, no knowledge of the Chinese language is required of participants, so reading Polish or English translations is also possible.
