CLASSES DEVOTED TO INTRODUCING METHODOLOGY OF RESEARCH ON SELECTED MODERN ISSUES OF MONGOLIAN/TIBETAN LITERETURE / LANGUAGE / CULTURE AND RELIGION

Classes devoted to the problem of identity of the Tibetans studied on the basis of literature and cinematography with the use of methodology of studies on literature and culture and religion.
Selected works of Tibetan literature and movies directed by the Tibetan artists will be discussed and studied together with the students in order to present possibility of applying different methodologies, such as intertextuality, hermeneutics and others in research on ethnical and cultural identity. The current problems of Tibetan identity will be tackled. Emic Tibetan terms as well as Buddhist notions will be discussed.

knows and understands methods of advanced analysis and interpretation of various products of the culture in Inner Asia, Mongolia and Tibet, which are relevant for selected traditions, theories and research schools within the scope of studies on literature, language, culture and religion
knows and understands the local academic tradition (methods of analysis, interpretation and evaluation) in the context of Inner Asia, Mongolia and Tibet
has wide and profound knowledge of the structures and social relations as well as socio-cultural behavior in Mongolia and Tibet, which enables professional verbal communication in social and intercultural contexts
can search for, analyze, evaluate and use information from different sources and can form a critical judgement on its basis
can indicate sources of cultural differences between different regions of the Orient or Africa, also based on source materials

Assessment criteria
Assessment based on the student's activity at classes, ability to formulate a research topic, select arguments and draw appropriate research conclusions.
The basis for getting credit is the oral presentation (ppt) in English of the selected topic referring to the main theme of the class.
