The course involves familiarizing students with the principles of linguistic, literary, and cultural studies methodology and applying them in scientific research. The course focuses on linguistics and/or philology and/or cultural studies. Students develop skills in applying the adopted methodology in scientific research.

KNOWLEDGE:
- has in-depth, detailed knowledge (including terminology, theory, and methodology) in the field of literary studies or linguistics or philosophy and religious studies or history [K_W01];
- has extensive knowledge of selected issues in Oriental/African cultures (in the field of culture and literature or language or philosophy and religion or history and socio-political issues) from a comparative perspective [K_W02];

- has detailed knowledge of the state of research in selected Korean issues and research centers [K_W05]; - Knows and understands advanced methods of analysis, interpretation, and evaluation of various Korean cultural products, appropriate to selected traditions, theories, and research schools in linguistics, literary studies, cultural studies, philosophy, religious studies, or history [K_W06];
- Knows and understands the indigenous scholarly tradition (methods of analysis, interpretation, and evaluation) of Korea [K_W07];
- Has extensive, in-depth knowledge of the structures and social relations, as well as socio-cultural behaviors of Korea, to the extent necessary for professional verbal social and intercultural communication [K_W10].
SKILLS:
- Can search for, analyze, evaluate, and use information from various sources and formulate critical judgments based on them [K_U01];
- Can identify the sources of cultural differences between Oriental/African countries, also based on source materials [K_U02];
- is able to independently acquire knowledge and expand research skills, and develop abilities that will enable a successful professional career [K_U03];
- is able to apply knowledge of Oriental studies to solve problems related to cultural differences in professional situations [K_U05];
- is able to use concepts from the philosophy and religion of a selected region of the Orient/Africa to analyze and interpret religious phenomena, ethical motives, and human behavior, as well as differences between cultures [K_U06];
- is able to detect connections between the development of philosophical and religious ideas in Korea and social, cultural, and economic processes [K_U07];
- is able to conduct a critical analysis and interpretation of various products of Korean culture in a manner appropriate to selected traditions, theories, and research schools in linguistics, literary studies, and cultural studies, philosophy, religious studies, or history, using original approaches that incorporate knowledge from Oriental studies [K_U10]; - is able to analyze the most important phenomena in the history/socio-political/linguistic/cultural situation of Korea [K_U11];
- is able to evaluate, select, and explain the most important products of contemporary Korean culture [K_U12];
- is able to behave professionally, respond verbally, and mediate in communication and negotiations in a selected socio-cultural context of Korea [K_U16];
- has an in-depth ability to present detailed issues related to Korean cultural issues in Polish and in contemporary Korean, taking into account Korea's intellectual tradition [K_U18];
