Korean language and culture - conversations with elements of cultural knowledge 3600-7-KO4-JiKK-k(L)

Student after completing the course provided for by the program:
KNOWLEDGE:
- has advanced knowledge of particular problems pertaining to the culture of Korea (within the scope of culture and literature or language
or philosophy and religion or history and socio-political issues) in a comparative perspective [K_W02];
- has extended knowledge of the language of Korea [KW04];
- knows and understands the local academic tradition (methods of analysis, interpretation and evaluation) in the context of Korea [KW07];
- demonstrates good grasp of contemporary cultural life of Korea [KW08];
- has genuine knowledge of rules of communication, writing, reading in Korean language (contemporary and/or classical/dead language)
[KW09];
- has wide knowledge of the structures and social relations as well as socio-cultural behaviours of a chosen region in the Orient in the
scope conditioning professional social and intercultural verbal communication [KW10];
- knows and understands methods of analysis and interpretation of certain cultural products typical to the chosen tradition, theories and
schools within the scope of culture, literature, language, philosophy and religion studies [KW11];
SKILLS:
- can search for, analyze, evaluate and use information from different sources and can form critical judgement on its basis [K_U01];
- can indicate sources of cultural differences between Korea and Poland, also on the basis of source materials [K_U02];
- can acquire knowledge independently and enhance research skills as well as develop abilities to build a professional career [K_U03];
- can use the knowledge in the field of Korean studies to expand knowledge of humanities [K_U04];
- can use the knowledge in the field of Korean studies to solve problems relating to cultural differences in professional situations [K_U05];
- can use the terminology from the domain of philosophy and religion of Korea to analyze and interpret religious phenomena, ethical
motives and human behaviours, as well as cultural differences [K_U06];
- can read, analyze and interpret literary texts and other works of culture (film, press, social writing) of Korea and appropriately place them
in their cultural context [K_U08];
- can compare and thoroughly analyze interrelations between chosen literary texts and other works of culture (film, press, social writing) of
Korea and the issues within the scope of tradition and modern times [K_U09];
- can analyze most important phenomena in the area of history, socio-political, linguistic or cultural situation of a chosen region Korea

- can evaluate, select and explain most important products of contemporary culture in Korea [K_U12];
- can select and translate into Polish most valuable literary works/writings of Korea [K_U13];
- has a good command of Korean language at the level B1+ [K_U15];
- can behave in a professional way, react verbally and mediate in communication and negotiations in a chosen socio-cultural context of
Korea [K_U16];
- can choose and formulate a subject of an MA thesis, select and find sources in Korean language, make references to a range of
theoretical approaches and other sources [K_U17];
- has superior skill at presenting detailed aspects within the scope of cultural issues of Korea in Polish and in Korean language taking into
consideration the intellectual tradition of Korea [K_U18];
- has superior skill at formulating own opinions and conclusions in writing and in speech both in Polish and in Korean [K_U19];
- can use advanced electronic and internet tools in Polish and in languages of the Orient or Africa [K_U21];
- can independently gain knowledge and develop research skills [K_U22];
SOCIAL COMPETENCIES:
- understands the need to learn all one’s life, can inspire and organize other people’s process of learning [K_K01];
- can actively cooperate and work in a group as well as forge relationships and build social relations [K_K02];
- is open to new ideas and trends as well as cultural diversity [K_K05];
- has awareness of the differences stemming from cultural, religious and philosophical variety and their influence on shaping social and

- understands and appreciates the value of tradition and cultural heritage of one’s own country and of Korean Peninsula [K_K08];
- can see the need to enrich one’s own tradition by adding positive philosophical, social and cultural values of Korea, treats cultural

- actively acts in aid of mutual understanding and effective intercultural communication, cultural and economic cooperation, domestic

- actively acts in aid of sharing and promoting cultural heritage and most important products of contemporary culture in Korea [K_K11];

The evaluation will use the following criteria:
- attendance
- continuous assessment (current preparation for classes and activity)
- written control tests during the semester
- the possibility of passing the final written test
- final oral exam
