Korean language and culture - conversations with elements of cultural knowledge 3600-7-KO4-JiKK-k(L)
Classes in the framework of the university language courseKorean at the B2 + level. Classes focused mainly on developing the habit of
self-expanding vocabulary and complex syntactic constructions. Educating the skills to recognize and apply linguistic nuances and
expanding mastered semantic fields in Korean. Developing the ability to express thoughts in oral and written statements at the complex in
the field of humanities, with the focus on the use of phraseology (collocation, idioms). Strengthening communication skills in terms of
listening comprehension and speaking, including the vocabulary characteristic of the language of the media, science, philosophical and
religious literature, culture, literature and art. Further learning colloquial language and complicated courtesy phrases.

Student after completing the course provided for by the program:
KNOWLEDGE:
- has advanced knowledge of particular problems pertaining to the culture of Korea (within the scope of culture and literature or language
or philosophy and religion or history and socio-political issues) in a comparative perspective [K_W02];
- has extended knowledge of the language of Korea [KW04];
- knows and understands the local academic tradition (methods of analysis, interpretation and evaluation) in the context of Korea [KW07];
- demonstrates good grasp of contemporary cultural life of Korea [KW08];
- has genuine knowledge of rules of communication, writing, reading in Korean language (contemporary and/or classical/dead language)

- has wide knowledge of the structures and social relations as well as socio-cultural behaviours of a chosen region in the Orient in the
scope conditioning professional social and intercultural verbal communication [KW10];
- knows and understands methods of analysis and interpretation of certain cultural products typical to the chosen tradition, theories and

SKILLS:
- can search for, analyze, evaluate and use information from different sources and can form critical judgement on its basis [K_U01];
- can indicate sources of cultural differences between Korea and Poland, also on the basis of source materials [K_U02];

- can choose and formulate a subject of an MA thesis, select and find sources in Korean language, make references to a range of
theoretical approaches and other sources [K_U17];
- has superior skill at presenting detailed aspects within the scope of cultural issues of Korea in Polish and in Korean language taking into
consideration the intellectual tradition of Korea [K_U18];
- has superior skill at formulating own opinions and conclusions in writing and in speech both in Polish and in Korean [K_U19];
- can use advanced electronic and internet tools in Polish and in languages of the Orient or Africa [K_U21];
- can independently gain knowledge and develop research skills [K_U22];

Assessment criteria
The evaluation will use the following criteria:
- attendance
- continuous assessment (current preparation for classes and activity)
- written control tests during the semester
- the possibility of passing the final written test
- final oral exam
