Lecture on the History of Korea (from the Chosŏn state to the end of the 20th century):
the rise of the Chosŏn state (Yi-SshiChosŏn Wangjo), the role of the civil administration in the Chosŏn Kingdom;
the history of the Korean Alphabet HANGŬL and the “Golden Age of the Korean Culture during the reigns of King Sejong Taewang;
the Japanese Invasions 1592-1598 and the Manchu Invasions in the early 17th century;
the Korean philosophy and social though in the 17th and 18th centuries and the role of Neo-Confucianism in the Chosŏn State;
the Period of Enlightenment as well the years of Modernization of Korea (the so-called KAEHWAGI Period);
Korea under the Japanese Rule 1910-1945, the liberation of Korea and its division into two hostile states in 1945 – postwar Korea states

- has basic knowledge in the range of theory of humanities (literary studies or linguistics or history) necessary to understand chosen cultural aspects [K_W04];
- has detailed and organized knowledge of history of Korean Peninsula in prehistoric. ancient and modern times [K_W06];
- has detailed and organized knowledge of art and aesthetics of Korea [K_W08];
- has detailed and organized knowledge of socio-cultural issues in Korean Peninsula within the scope of natural environment and ethnic, demographic and political situation [K_W09];
- has organized knowledge of natural, geopolitical and economic environment and their importance for the historical and contemporary situation of the Korean Peninsula [K_W11];
- is aware of the complex nature of Korean language, its place and significance in the cultural and historical context of Korean Peninsula [K_W14];
- knows and understands basic analysis and interpretation methods of various products of culture characteristic of chosen theories and schools of research within the scope of cultural and literary studies, linguistics, philosophy and religion studies and history [K_W18];
Alumnus is able to:
- indicate sources of cultural differences of Oriental countries (especially differences among China, Korean and Japan) [K_U02];
- use the knowledge of history of Korean Peninsula to analyze and interpret events taking place in the modern world [K_U04];
- appropriately place Korea in the context of circumstances pertinent to natural, geopolitical and economic environment [K_U05];
- can use the knowledge of socio-cultural issues of Korean countries in typical professional situations [K_U09];
- has a skill in presenting detailed aspects within the scope of cultural issues of Korean countries s in Polish and in Korean taking into consideration the intellectual tradition of the Korean Peninsula [K_U21];
