Oriental language and culture - Japanese 3600-7-KM5-JiKO(Z)
Basic course of modern, standard Japanese language (hyōjungo). Presentation of essential grammar construction, verb and adjective conjugations. Introduction to basic grammar categories: time, negation, functional particles, polite expressions.
Introduction of kana syllabaries (hiragana and katakana). Grammar on A1 level (JLPT N4 level).

Assessment criteria
The grade for passing a language class consists of the following:
class attendance (minimum 50 percent attendance per semester)
absences must be excused by medical exemption
possibility of two unexcused absences in a semester
activity in class
Presentation about Japanese culture
handing in all homework by the date set by the instructor
written and oral semester credit.
