Japanese language and culture - business culture, economic issues3 3600-7-JA5-JKJKB(Z)
Interactive group classes are aimed at improving students' general language skills and practicing
using these skills to function in a Japanese language environment, while respecting diversity
cultural. Particular emphasis is placed on learning and practical application of elements of knowledge about business culture,
in terms of, among others, learning about proper manners and behavior, appropriate linguistic means, etc., as well as contacts
Polish-Japanese economic and the ability to describe them in Japanese; Polish-Japanese students may be invited to participate in the classes
representatives of Japanese business in Poland. And students can visit them and conduct interviews as part of their fieldwork.
Knowledge of business culture/proper manners and behavior:
- Students will lead a group discussion on problems in a business situation that were caused by cultural misunderstandings. Through the discussion, they will learn about business culture and the differences between Japan and Poland.
- Students will learn basic business manners from textbooks and audio materials.
Appropriate use of language in business situations:
- With the help of textbooks, students will learn the appropriate vocabulary, expressions and how to build a proper conversation in a business situation.
The activities focus on Polish-Japanese economic relations and the ability to describe them in Japanese:
- Students will prepare a classroom presentation on Polish-Japanese economic relations.

Knowledge: the graduate knows and understands:
K_W04 Has extended and in-depth knowledge of the Japanese language.
K_W09 Has thorough knowledge of the principles of communication, writing and reading in Japanese, contemporary and classical.

K_K06 having awareness of otherness resulting from cultural, religious and philosophical diversity and its influence on the formation of social and political attitudes and economic processes.
K_K10 active work for mutual understanding and effective intercultural communication, cultural and economic cooperation, contacts in their own country and in Japan.
K_K11 actively working to share and promote the cultural heritage and most important products of contemporary Japanese culture.
K_K12 using linguistic and cultural competences in professional situations, such as aid and government programs, immigration problems, and activities for the country’s security.
K_K13 is ready to initiate actions in the public interest and to think and act in an entrepreneurial manner.
Assessment criteria
- In the first semester, a written exam, in the second semester, a written exam and an oral presentation
- Continuous assessment (ongoing preparation for classes and activity)
- Assignments (homework, fieldwork and presentations)
- Attendance check (two absences allowed per semester)
