The purpose of these classes is the further development of the basic language skills mastered during undergraduate studies. Emphasis is placed on the composition of written assignments and their presentation; additionally, participants learn how to use proper sentence structures and correct grammatical constructions, practice creating texts adapted to the topic, present these texts, and make presentations on the assigned topic.
The topics of written assignments are selected from a wide range of Japanese culture, but mainly focus on Japanese customs, pop culture, tourism, etc. In addition, students also write compositions based on the texts they read in Japanese classes. After correcting mistakes, these works are presented in class.
In addition, students will prepare slides on a given topic and give a presentation in Japanese. After the presentation, a class discussion will be held to deepen the students’ understanding of the topic and to practice the transition from input to output of vocabulary and expressions.
Term 2024Z:

- can establish contacts and interact with representatives of different cultures[K_K03]
- actively acts in aid of sharing and promoting cultural heritage and most important products of contemporary culture in Japan [K_K11]
Assessment criteria
In the evaluation the following criteria will be used:
- class attendance (up to two unexcused absences per semester)
- a minimum of 50% attendance is a prerequisite for passing, even in the case of presentation of sick leaves
- continuous evaluation (current preparation for classes and activity)
- evaluation of written assignment (The instructor grades each written assignment. The semester grade is given based on the sum of grades for all written works turned in during the semester.)
- evaluation of the presented written works and presentations on the assigned topic
