Japanese Art and Aesthetics 3600-7-JA2-SZEJ1
The main purpose of the lecture is to present the essential meaning of art in the culture of Japan. The students become acquainted with principal issues of history of art, which will be divided into subjects such as Japanese painting, architecture, ceramics, performatifve arts. The emphasis will be put particularly on the explanation of canons of art and aesthetic symbols which constitute the key to the right understanding of Japanese culture. Subjects of traditional and modern Japanese art will also be brought up, as well as aesthetic categories and history of Japanese aesthetics since the oldest days until present time. During the lecture will be also presented detailed questions of aesthetics in selected fields of Japanese culture.
