Japanese Language and Culture Conversations 3600-7-JA2-JKJK4
Conversations based on film materials, including Japanese TV series. The following forms of work in the classes are planned:
Before every class all students get materials with vocabulary and issues. Students are obliged to check new vocabulary themselves.
The main part of the classes is checking of new vocabulary from films, TV series, TV dramas, listening comprehension of dialogues, finding of new words and expressions. Each student works on vocabulary and understanding of the story plot. Classes also include conversations about the above content.

Learning outcomes
Knowledge:
- has a basic knowledge of the Japanese language (its structure, grammar, history, writing) [K_W12]
- is aware of the complex nature of the Japanese language, its place and meaning in the context of the culture and history of Japan [K_W13]
- is aware of linguistic diversity and its impact on the cultural and political situation of the world [K_W14]
- has a basic knowledge of the rules of translating from Japanese into Polish [K_W15]
Skills:
- can read, analyze and interpret literary texts and/or other works of cultural creativity in Japan (film, press, literature on
social character) correctly placing them in the cultural context [K_U06]
- can apply knowledge of socio-cultural issues in typical professional situations [K_U09]
- has a good command of Japanese at the B1 level [K_U12]
- can analyze and interpret Japanese source texts [K_U13]
- can translate literary texts/writings from Japanese into Polish [K_U14]
- can interpret the key concepts of Japanese culture through linguistic/philological analysis [K_U15]
- can use the Japanese writing system and the tools for learning and analyzing it (traditional and electronic dictionaries, lexicons, language corpora, databases, etc.) [K_U16]
- can function properly in the linguistic and cultural environment of Japan [K_U17]
- has the ability to present detailed issues in the field of Japanese cultural issues in Polish or a foreign language, taking into account the intellectual tradition of Japan [K_U21]
- has the ability to formulate, in speech and writing, own opinions and conclusions in Polish and Japanese at the B1 level [K_U22]
- can use electronic and internet tools in Polish and Japanese [K_U24]
Competences:
- understands the need for lifelong learning [K_K01]
- can cooperate and work in a group as well as establish contacts and build social relations [K_K02]

- is aware of the cultural difference and its religious, philosophical, moral, and historical sources and its importance for

Assessment criteria
- attendance in classes ( up to two absences without a sick note)
in case of sick notes - at least 50 per cent of attendance is required
- constant evaluation (preparing for classes and activity)
- oral examination (the exam can be conducted before the exam session, at one the last classes of the semester)
