Persian language and culture of Iran 3600-7-IR5-JPKI
An academic practical Persian course on advanced level. The course is focused on developing the ability to extend vocabulary by students themselves. The course aims at developing the ability to recognize and uses language nuances and expand already known semantic fields in Persian language. The course is focused on building up the ability to express thoughts in writing and orally in the forms of complicated expressions in the field of humanistic, with stress put on using idioms and collocations. Classes aim at consolidating communication skills as in listening with understanding and speaking including vocabulary of media, science, philosophical and religious literature, culture and art. The course also include learning poetry and diplomatic language as well as further exercises on colloquial and courtesy in language.

Knowledge:
• has extended and deepened knowledge of the Persian language
• has genuine knowledge of rules of communication, writing, reading in Persian language
Skills:
• can read, analyze and interpret advanced literary texts of culture of Iran/Afghanistan and appropriately place them in their cultural context;
• has a good command of Persian language at the advanced level;
• can behave in a professional way, react verbally and mediate in communication and negotiations in a chosen socio-cultural context of Iran/ Afghanistan;
• has superior skill at formulating own opinions and conclusions in writing and in speech both in Polish and in a Persian language
• can expertly use advanced electronic and internet tools in Polish and in Persian language
Social competences:
• understands the need to learn all one’s life, can inspire and organize other people’s process of learning
• can actively establish relations and cooperate with representatives of other cultures
Assessment criteria
- attendance control (student is eligible for 2 unexcused absences, any further absence results in not qualifying for the final examination).
- continuous assessment (homeworks, class activity, current preparation for classes), mid-term tests
The class ends with an exam.
Bibliography
Selection of literature and textbooks depends on the lecturers conducting classes in a given semester.
