Source texts 2 3600-7-IR4-TZ2
An academic course dealing with chosen source texts based on criteria set by the tutor. It will be important texts of the Iranian cultural area’s written legacy from the oldest times up to our contemporary era. Thus it will include texts in many different languages used in Iran throughout centuries that will be dealt with both in texts’ original language and Polish or English and even Persian translation. Nevertheless, New Persian texts will be prevailing. In any case a short presentation of the given text in context of its contemporary written heritage will take place and reading of short fragments thereof both original and in translation will follow with students’ active participation. Students are supposed to prepare the texts for discussion at the class in order to support the tutor in achieving the task. The texts should help students in understanding different phenomena of the Iranian culture and civilization.

KNOWLEDGE:
has extended knowledge of particular problems pertaining to the culture of Iran (within the scope of classical and contemporary literary legacy, history and socio-political issues) in a comparative perspective [K_W02];
has extended knowledge of particular problems pertaining to the culture, history and socio-political issues of Iran (within the scope of Iran's written legacy) [K_W03];
has extended and deepened knowledge of the Persian language [K_W04];
has detailed knowledge pertaining to the state of research on chosen issues related to the countries of the Iran as well as in-depth knowledge of research centres in Poland and all over the world [K_W05];

has genuine knowledge of rules of communication, writing, reading in Persian language [K_W09];
SKILLS:
can indicate sources of cultural differences between diverse regions in the Orient, also on the basis of source materials [K_U02];
can use the terminology from the domain of philosophy and religion of Iran on the basis of available sources [K_U06];
can read, analyze and interpret advanced literary texts and other works of culture and appropriately place them in their cultural context [K_U08];
can compare and thoroughly analyze interrelations between chosen texts and the issues within the scope of tradition and modern times [K_U09];
can carry out a critical analysis and interpretation of different written sources pertaining to specific periods [K_U10];
can evaluate, select and explain most important products of Iranian culture, discern various types of sources and place them in specific historical periods [K_U12];
can select and translate into Polish most valuable literary works/writings of Iran [K_U13];
has a good command of Persian language at the advanced level [K_U15];
can select and find sources in Persian language, make references to a range of theoretical approaches and other sources [K_U17].

can actively cooperate and work in a group as well as forge relationships and build social relations [K_K02];
