Reading Persian texts 3600-7-IR3-LTP(Z)
This is an academic reading and comprehension class based on texts in Classical and Modern Persian, according to relevant level of the Faculty’s curriculum. Students learn how to read and translate cultural texts. First of all, the classes will help students in reading and comprehension skills including reading literary,religio-legal and journalistic texts properly and fluently. The classes will also enable students in enriching their vocabulary and developing translation skills into Polish in a very proper way using dictionaries as well as referring to on-line sources. The stress will be put on how to use monolingual dictionaries (Persian to Persian). Developing relevant linguistic behaviours regarding accent, intonation and pronunciation will be essential.

Knowledge:
- has detailed and organized knowledge of literature and writings of Iran/Afghanistan [K_W05];

- has detailed and organized knowledge of philosophy and religion of Iran/Afghanistan [K_W07];
- has extensive knowledge of Persian language (its/their structure, history, script) [K_W12];

- has rudimentary knowledge of translation rules from Persian language into Polish [K_W15];
- demonstrates basic grasp of contemporary cultural life of Iran/Afghanistan [K_W16];
Skills:
- can read, analyze and interpret literary texts and other works of culture (film, press, social writing) of Iran/Afghanistan and appropriately place them in their cultural context [K_U06];
- can compare and perceive interrelations between chosen literary texts and other works of culture (film, press, social writing) of Iran/Afghanistan and the issues within the scope of tradition and modern times [K_U07];
- has a good command of Persian language at the level depending on specialty [K_U12];
- can analyze and interpret source texts in a language of a chosen specialty [K_U13];
- can translate literary texts and writings from Persian language into Polish [K_U14];
- can interpret key terms from Persian culture through linguistic/philological analysis [K_U15];
- can fluently use the script of Persian language and the necessary tools to learn and analyze it (traditional and electronic dictionaries, lexicons, linguistic corpora, data bases, etc.) [K_U16];
- can use electronic and internet tools both in Polish and in Persian languages [K_U24];
Social competence:
- can cooperate and work in a group as well as forge relationships and build social relations [K_K02];
- can establish relations and cooperate with representatives of other cultures [K_K03];
Assessment criteria
- oral or written assessment in a semester cycle
- activity and current preparation for classes
- attendance control
Assessment on the basis of attendance. Two unexcused absences in a semester are allowed (4h out of 30 lesson hours).
Final evaluation:
