FULL DESCRIPTION OF THE SUBJECT: During the course students will be introduced to the following issues:
- orthography – hamza, short and long vowels etc.
- phonology
- noun structure
- grammatical categories of the nomina: number, gender, case and attribute
- noun declension – diptotes and triptotes
- adjective structure and deflection
- nominal phrases – of nouns and adjectives
- nominal phrases – idhafa
- cardinal numerals 1-20
- past tense of verbs
They will train skills acquired during the course:
- reading simple texts
- asking questions
- introducing people
- describing people and classroom, describing house and city
- conversation

Knowledge:
- has extensive knowledge of the Persian language (its structure, history, script) and basic knowledge of the second Oriental language (Dari/Pashto/Turkish/Hindi/Hebrew/Arabic as a preferred option) K_W12
- is aware of the complex nature of the Arabic language, its place and significance in the cultural and historical context of Iran and Afghanistan K_W13
- is aware of linguistic diversity and its effect on the global cultural and political situation K_W14
Skills:
- has a good command of Persian on lower advanced level, and of the second Oriental language (Dari/Pashto/Turkish/Hindi/Hebrew/Arabic as a preferred option) on basic level K_U12
