The lecture begins with a presentation of the history of the Persian language within the process of developement of Iranian languages (historical grammar). The next topic is script and phonetic system of the Persian language. Within the framework of morphology parts of speech are presented and analysed and rules of their use in the sentence are discussed. During lecture all tenses and modes used in contemporary Persian language are analyzed.

Assessment criteria
Attendance at lectures is obligatory.
Admission to the mid-term evaluation on the basis of attendance.
Two unexcused absences allowed per semester (4 lecture hrs out of 30, 1 lecture hr=45 min.)
