MA Seminar 3600-7-IN4-SMH1
The seminar prepares students to write their thesis in the field of Indology. Its aim is to analyze various issues related to Indian culture, society and politics (depending on the topics of master's theses) on the basis of selected source texts in Indian languages.
Depending on the first Indian language studied by the students (Bengali / Hindi / Sanskrit / Tamil), the main issues are related to the different aspects of contemporary or classical India.
To serve the purpose of MA seminar, firstly, student’s own work on a chosen subject (the subject can be chosen by a student and accepted by the teacher or it can be proposed by the teacher) and regular presentations of the results of this work to all participants of the seminar are done, secondly, common reading and analysis of works selected by the teacher is conducted.

Assessment criteria
– attendance control. Maximum two classes missed per semester without sick leave or other justification, more absences will result in inadmissibility for credit;
– continuous assessment (taking into consideration discussion over other participants presentations);
– written essays/reviews on read texts;
– semester paper on the subject chosen by a student and approved by the teacher;
– one seminar paper written in English and one oral presentation in English
