First Language and Culture of India (Sanskrit) 3600-7-IN2-IJKIS(Z)
Practical study, in the cultural context, of the first Indian language (Bengali / Hindi / Sanskrit / Tamil, depending on the language group), at the lower intermediate level. Learning modern languages (Bengali / Hindi / Tamil) is based primarily on carefully selected texts and dialogues, which allow not only to learn the language, but also to acquaint students with culture, daily life and customs of India and other countries of South Asia, and in the case of Sanskrit learning is based on the reading of selected original texts.
The main aim is to acquire basic language skills in the practical knowledge of the first Indian language, mastering basic grammatical structures, and gradual extension of the vocabulary.
In the case of modern languages (Bengali / Hindi / Tamil) classes include:
- practicing conversational skills in various spheres of everyday life - dialogues on various everyday topics;
- oral exercises on selected topics (hobby, daily schedule, cuisine, family, holidays);
- answering questions;
- reading and discussing selected texts;
- listening comprehension exercises (live speech, dictation, audio-video).
In the case of Sanskrit classes include reading of original texts at the lower intermediate level and their recitation.
