The aim of the lecture is to provide students with a historical outline of religious diversity in India and South Asia, as well as to inform them about the development, doctrines and practices of dharmic religions: Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism, presented from the perspective of today’s situation in the region. The lecture also covers the issues of contemporary forms of religious practices, religious phenomena, and the place of religion in the broader social and political context, with which knowledge students will be able to interpret everyday religious lives of the inhabitants of India and South Asia with better understanding and deepened awareness. 1. Assessment criteria
Lecture with elements of conversation, using video and phonographic materials, as well as modern media and broadcasting technologies as sources of information and illustration.
Final oral or written assessment.
