First Language and Culture of India - Sanskrit(L) 3600-7-IN1-IJKIS(L)
Practical study of the first Indian language (Bengali / Hindi / Sanskrit / Tamil), starting from learning the script and the rules of its transliteration/transcription to the knowledge of the language at the elementary level.
Learning modern languages (Bengali / Hindi / Tamil) is based primarily on carefully selected short texts and dialogues, which allow not only to learn the language, but also to acquaint students with culture, daily life and customs of India and other countries of South Asia. In the case of Sanskrit the study is based on the reading of simple original and prepared texts and their recitation.
The main aim is to acquire basic language skills in the practical knowledge of the first Indian language, mastering basic grammatical structures, knowledge of basic vocabulary and speaking skills (in the case of modern languages) as well as writing skills; reading of simple texts and working with them, e.g. answering questions, summarizing texts - oral and written, putting questions, are also practiced.
