1. The Noun and Pronoun
Nominal Syntax: Examines gender, number, the definite article, and construct chains (the (status constructus)) used for possession and genitive relationships.Adjectives & Apposition: How adjectives function attributively, predicatively, and substantively.Pronouns & Pronominal Suffixes: Independent, demonstrative, interrogative, and suffixed pronouns.
2. The Verb
Verbal Stems (Binyanim): The syntax of the Qal, Niphal, Piel, Pual, Hiphil, Hophal, and Hithpael, and how they shift the valence or voice of the verb.Verbal Conjugations: The syntax of the Perfect, Imperfect, Imperative, Cohortative, and Jussive.The (Waw) Consecutive: The specialized narrative syntax connecting sequential past and future actions.
3. Particles
Prepositions, Adverbs, and Conjunctions: The syntactical impact of prefixed prepositions ((beth ), (kappaalphaiota), (lambdaalphamudeltaalpha)), negative particles, and the interrogative (eta ).Discourse Markers: The role of interjections and particles in structuring the broader argument of a text.
4. Clause and Sentence Structure
Verbal vs. Non-Verbal Clauses: The pragmatic difference between verbal sentences (Action/Narrative) and nominal sentences (Stative/Descriptive/Focus).Sentence Modifiers & Syntax: The rules of negation, subordination, relative clauses, and interrogative sentences.
