Proseminar 3600-7-HE2-P(L)
The course is devoted to techniques of writing seminar works. Students become familiar with basic principles of writing methodology, such as:
-subject selection
- exploration and use of sources
-plagiarism awareness
-referring state of knowledge on the chosen topic
- argumentation
-citing requirements and styles.

Knowledge:
- has basic knowledge of the place and importance of Hebrew Studies in the humanities and their specificity in relation to the subject and methodology
- knows the state of research in chosen aspects pertaining to Jewish Studies and Israeli Studies
- knows and understands the basic terms and rules of copyright and protection of intellectual property
Skills:
- can search for, analyze, evaluate and use information from different sources
- can fluently use the script of Hebrew and the necessary tools to learn and analyze it (traditional and electronic dictionaries, lexicons, linguistic corpora, data bases, etc.)
- has the necessary skills to prepare seminar papers: can select and find sources and analyses in Hebrew, knows the methodology of writing seminar papers
- can use basic knowledge in the scope of methodology of cultural research in a seminar paper
- can choose and formulate a subject of a BA thesis, select and find sources in Hebrew, make references to basic theoretical approaches
- has a skill in presenting detailed aspects within the scope of cultural issues of Judaism and Israel in Polish and in Hebrew taking into consideration the intellectual tradition of Judaism and Israel
- has a skill at formulating own opinions and conclusions in writing and in speech both in Polish and in Hebrew
- has the ability of substantive argumentation with the use of other authors’ views
Assessment criteria
Credit with grade on the basis of:
- presence
- current preparation for classes and activities
-written work
