Issues raised in the first semester
Morphology of Biblical Hebrew:
- The noun (gender and number, status absolutus, status constructus, forms with the suffixes).
- The adjective (gender and number; predicative and attributive adjectives).
- The pronoun (personal, pointing, possessive, interrogative).
- The prepositions.
- The simple nominal clauses.
- The verb and the basic categories of verb: perfectum, imperfectum, participium, imperativus, and their morphological structure;its functions.
- the conjugative system of the biblical Hebrew
- the verbs with the suffixes.
Issues raised in the second semester
Biblical Hebrew Syntax - the syntactical features of the original language of the Hebrew Bible/Old Testament.
It will be defined and illustrated the fundamental syntactical features of Biblical Hebrew that most intermediate-level readers struggle to master.
The Biblical Hebrew syntax and morphology will be divided into two parts. The first covers the individual words (nouns, verbs, and particles) with the goal of helping the reader move from morphological and syntactical observations to meaning and significance.
The second section moves beyond phrase-level phenomena and considers the larger relationships of clauses and sentences. through detailed descriptions of grammatical phenomena from a linguistics approach.
