This lecture aims to provide general egyptological knowledge to be expanded afterwards in other, more detailed lectures and classes.
This lecture presents the history of Egyptology from its beginnings, main directions of research in Poland and abroad (history, geography, language, literature, archaeology), as well as egyptological centres. It also introduces various categories of sources and materials (basic bibliography, journals, data bases and other scientific tools in the Internet).

- know and describe the basic concepts of the culture of Ancient Egypt and the history of egyptology;

- understand the most important problems, esthetic preferences of Ancient Egypt;
