Basic information about Egypt 3600-7-EG1-PWE(Z)
This course presents the natural environment of Ancient Egypt: the country's particularities, natural resources, flora, fauna and human activities related to agriculture, building and economy (trade, transport). It also covers the administrative division of pharaonic Egypt and its changes through its history; colonization and population; cities and regions (for instance Memphis, Heliopolis, Sile, Tanis, Naukratis, Abydos, Thebes, Assuan, Elephantine, Philae; deserts and oases); political situation and current socio-political issues; religions and most important monuments from the beginnings through the modern times.

The student should:
Knowledge:
- have the knowledge about geography of Ancient Egypt;
- have the knowledge about the natural, geopolitical and economic environment and its meaning for Ancient Egypt;

- correctly place Ancient Egypt in the reference to the natural, geopolitical and economic environment;
Competence:
- be aware of the cultural difference and its religious, philosophical, moral and historical sources and its meaning for the understanding of the contemporary world.
