BA Seminar 3600-7-AR3-SL(Z)
The course of the seminar depends on the level of students’ proficiency in individual research. First, the areas of students’ interests and possible topics of their BA theses are defined in detail. Second, the rules of writing essays, studies and theses are presented. Finally, the students present effects of their individual research. The general discussion of the presented papers is to encourage students to participate in scholarly dispute as well as to use the instruments of critical analysis in speech and in writing.

K_U06 read, analyze and interpret literary texts and other works of culture (film, press, social writing) and appropriately place them in their cultural context
K_U07 can compare and perceive interrelations between chosen literary texts and other works of culture of Arab countries (film, press, social writing) and the issues within the scope of tradition and modern times
K_U11 has a good command of a foreign language at least at the B2 level
K_U13 analyze and interpret source texts in Arabic
K_U15 interpret key terms from a culture of Arab countries through linguistic/philological analysis
K_U16 fluently use the Arabic script and the necessary tools to learn and analyze it (traditional and electronic dictionaries, lexicons, linguistic corpora, data bases, etc.)
K_U17 properly function in the linguistic and cultural environment of Arab countries
K_U18 has the necessary skills to prepare seminar papers: can select and find sources and analyses in Arabic, knows the methodology of writing seminar papers
K_U19 can use basic knowledge in the scope of methodology of cultural research in a seminar paper
K_U20 choose and formulate a subject of a BA thesis, select and find sources in Arabic, make references to basic theoretical approaches
K_U21 has a skill in presenting detailed aspects within the scope of cultural issues of Arab countries in Polish and in Arabic taking into consideration the intellectual tradition of Arab countries
K_U22 has a skill at formulating own opinions and conclusions in writing and in speech both in Polish and Arabic
K_U23 has the ability of substantive argumentation with the use of other authors’ views
K_U24 use electronic and internet tools both in Polish and Arabic
K_U25 communicate with specialists in the fields of academic research and in academic disciplines pertinent to the Oriental Studies – Arabic Studies using contemporary IT technology
K_U26 can acquire knowledge independently and develop research skills following the research supervisor’s instructions

Written outline of the BA thesis
Attendance control - a student can be absent max. twice during the semester; in the case of absence due to illness, the medical certificate excusing this absence should be submitted within seven work days of the last day of the leave specified in the certificate.
