Arabic Grammar1 3600-7-AR1-GJA1
The course aims to practice the information provided at the lecture "The Knowledge of the Arabic Language", i.e. the Arabic script, grammatical categories of names and verbs (conjugation of regular and selected irregular verbs in simple tenses and moods, forms, passive voice) and other parts of speech, as well as the basic syntactic structures (i.e. nominal and verbal sentences, prepositional phrases and status constructus).

Alumnus/alumna:
K_W12: has extensive knowledge of Arabic (its structure, history, script)
K_W13: is aware of the complex nature of Arabic, its place and significance in the cultural and historical context of Arab countries
K_W14: is aware of the linguistic variety and its influence on the cultural and political situation of the world
K_W15: has a rudimentary knowledge of translation rules from Arabic into Polish
K_U06: read, analyze and interpret literary texts and other works of culture (film, press, social writing) and appropriately place them in their cultural context
K_U12: has a good command of Arabic at the B2 level
K_U13: analyze and interpret source texts in Arabic
K_U14: can translate literary texts and writings from Arabic into Polish
K_U15: can interpret key terms from a chosen culture of Arab countries through linguistic/philological analysis
K_U16: can fluently use the script and the necessary tools to learn and analyze it (traditional and electronic dictionaries, lexicons, linguistic corpora, databases, etc.)
K_U17: can properly function in the linguistic and cultural environment of Arab countries
K_U21: has a skill in presenting detailed aspects within the scope of cultural issues of Arab countries in Polish and in Arabic taking into consideration the intellectual tradition of Arab countries
K_U22: has a skill at formulating own opinions and conclusions in writing and in speech both in Polish and in Arabic
K_U24: can use electronic and internet tools both in Polish and in Arabic
K_K01: understands the need to learn all one’s life
K_K02: can cooperate and work in a group as well as forge relationships and build social relations
K_K03: can establish relations and cooperate with representatives of other cultures
K_K08: acts in aid of sharing and promoting the cultural and linguistic heritage of Arab countries
Assessment criteria
Attendance control. Max. two absences (4 hours) are allowed in a semester. In case of absence due to illness, a medical certificate should be submitted within seven working days from the last day of the leave specified in the certificate.
Continuous assessment of diligence, submission of all homework assignments in due time
