Arabic phonetics 3600-7-AR1-FA
The course is theoretically and practically oriented. The theoretical part presents general notions in phonetical and phonological studies, as well as the phonological structure of Arabic. Classical and modern Arabic phonology is described in the context of diglossia of the Arab World. The practical part of the course contains exercises based on Arabic-Polish contrastive phonological and phonetical studies.

K_W12 has extensive knowledge of the Arabic language (its/their structure, history, script)

Skills:
K_U06 reads, analyzes and interprets literary texts and other works of culture (film, press, social writing) and appropriately places them in their cultural context
K_U12 has a good command of Arabic at least at the B2 level.
K_U13 analyzes and interprets source texts in Arabic
K_U14 can translate literary texts and writings from Arabic into Polish
K_U15 interprets key terms from a culture of Arab countries through linguistic/philological analysis
K_U16 fluently uses the Arabic script and the necessary tools to learn and analyze it (traditional and electronic dictionaries, lexicons, linguistic corpora, data bases, etc.)
K_U17 properly functions in the linguistic and cultural environment of Arab countries
K_U21 has a skill in presenting detailed aspects within the scope of cultural issues of Arab countries in Polish and in Arabic taking into consideration the intellectual tradition of Arab countries
K_U22 has a skill in presenting detailed aspects within the scope of cultural issues of Arab countries in Polish and in Arabic taking into consideration the intellectual tradition of Arab countries
K_U24 uses electronic and internet tools both in Polish and Arabic

Assessment criteria
Attendance control. Max. two absences (4 hours) are allowed in a semester. In case of absence due to illness, a medical certificate should be submitted within seven working days from the last day of the leave specified in the certificate.
