Swahili language 3600-7-AFS4-SL(Z)
The aim of the course is to learn Swahili from the basics by taking into account the cultural context. Classes have a form of exercise. Their aim is to develop knowledge of grammatical structures of Swahili and its lexis, and linguistic and communicative skills (reading, reading comprehension of written and oral texts, constructing written and oral statements) on a basic level. The program includes learning grammar structures and vocabulary and then consolidating them through various exercises, reading, translation, and simple conversations. The following teaching methods will be used: elements of lecture, practical language learning, and work with text. Language learning materials such as textbooks, dictionaries, texts, and audio and video recordings will be used. The condition for passing is regular attendance and preparation for classes and timely submission of homework. At the end of the semester, students will take a test consisting of open and single-choice questions, checking their mastery of the material covered in class.

Assessment criteria
Classes will take the form of exercises. The following teaching methods will be used: elements of lecture, practical language learning, and work with text. Language learning materials in the form of textbooks, dictionaries, texts, and audio and audio-visual recordings will be used.
The final assessment will consist of:
1. Final test consisting of open-ended and single-choice questions.
2. Homework - completion of the task, linguistic correctness, and punctuality of the work is assessed. Completion of all work is the first condition for admission to the final test.
