Learning outcomes
KNOWLEDGE
has basic knowledge of the place and importance of African studies in the humanities and their specificity in relation to the subject and methodology, knows the state of research in chosen aspects pertaining to a chosen region of Africa [K_W01, K_W17]
has basic knowledge in the range of theory of linguistics and language classifications, and sociolinguistics necessary to understand the problem of multilinguality in Africa; is aware of the linguistic variety and its influence on the cultural and political situation [K_W04, K_W14]
has detailed knowledge on the subject of the development of vehicular languages and variants of European post-colonial languages in Africa [K_W14]
has detailed and organized knowledge of literature and writings of chosen regions of Africa [K_W05]
has organized general knowledge on interrelationship of languages and their influence on identity and culture [K_W02]
has detailed knowledge of language policy and language planning in Africa [ K_W14], within the background of historic implications, tradition, colonization, decolonization, modernization, globalization and human rights [K_W19]
SKILLS
can search for, analyze, evaluate and use information from different sources concerning language situation in Africa [K_U01, K_U22]
can appropriately place a chosen region of Africa in the context of language situation [K_U05]
can recognize and understand basic terminology of sociolinguistics of multilinguality in a given literary works [K_U20]
has the ability of substantive argumentation with the use of other authors’ views, can relate the phenomena found in Africa to linguistic situation in Europe and vice versa [K_U23]
